Marquis of Murrieta
The origin of the Marqués de Murrieta winery is linked to the origin of Rioja wine. Its founder, the Marquis of Murrieta, brought Bordeaux production techniques to Spain, produced his first wine in 1852 in Logronyo and settled in the Ygay Estate. Located in the heart of Rioja, this estate houses Ygay Castle, headquarters of the Marqués de Murrieta wineries, surrounded by 300 hectares of surrounding vineyards.
